Re: Re: Re: Re: ICE FM

    lol

the place where I used to work regularly featured galaxy DJs (they'd come once every month and do a roadshow)

steve furnell is pretty down to earth, seems like an OK bloke

that dave kelly is a right tit

and don't get me started on kareem

on the upside, I got to see tim lennox & tom wainright - I like :D

the same place is currently trying to pull dave pearce

I can remember that. Bass Generator had a show and on I think on the last show they got Smurf on to play some extreme gabba! Wasn't always like that though, they had loads of different shows on for different types of dance music. Made a change to turn on the radio during the day and hear some decent house music. Shame there's no market for it in newcastle

Beat 106 is a great station in the evenings; it has real DJ's, not just some cock who thinks he's mint cos he can take the piss out of the kids that ring up!

There is a market, but there are no more radio licenses left for the north east.

If digital radio takes off & it should, there will be lots & lots of radio licences up for grabs as you can get more stations on the digital system than the analogue system.

I may be wrong technicaly so techys please feel free to correct me.

I think if a station kept it mainstream during the weekday then branched out in the evening/weekend it would be fine.

A radio station playing music aimed at 18-35yrs olds is the range most company's aim at so commercially it would/should do well

Which station has George Bowie on?

I fucking hate George Bowie & Trevor Reily M8 has built them 2 up for years when it could have built up other better DJs.

I was in leeds wen Kiss 105 was launched... it was mint- quality tunes and some dignity+ i remember the test signal for it- "you got the love" and "yeke yeke" on loop with some wickid tunes...

then chrysalis came along overnight and it turned into scrutter fm...

what was the music policy galaxy got the license on? can't the broadcasting licensing people revoke it? cos im sure it was dance and r+b - not speeded up edits of Pink  agony...

    roll on cardiff!

funny you should say that mate - in a recent article in Music Week they reported that as part of the final FM sell off due to the move towards Digital broadcasting, there are more licences up for grabs in areas earmarked - the North East being a prime area for development.

We live in hope that someone, maybe even the Ice lads can get together an independant bid. We truly need something that reflects the broad tastes of the region. Something along the lines of Xfm but with more of a leaning towards dance and electronic styles

The Ice lads:rolleyes: it would start well but you no long term it wouldnt last. I think a independant Newcastle bid would have to be led by that Jim Mawdsley bloke as he seems to have his fingers in most pies.
