    1st Practice Game for Promise FC - Tuesday 17th, 6:30pm :)

Ok peeps.. the official word from westgate Soccer World is that I can only book 7 days before the game, but i was told the available time for the pitch is 7:30pm.. so as soon as possible, I will book the pitch for:

    Tuesday 17th June, 6:30pm

so put in your diary, calendar or whatever and turn up there for 6:20pm to give yourself time to get ready for the game.. we have to give the pitch up at 8:30pm so lets maximise the time by getting in early :) We should all meet in the sports bar, or wait at reception and get the cash together to pay for the pitch.

    The players are:

    GoalKing
    El Maracca
    CrasherKid
    Cupid De Locke
    CraigB
    Ness
    Spud693 - cant make it
    Fizz
    MartyV
    Orbit
    Chris Fee +1
    Mark
    Rich

The fee for the hire of the pitch is £45, so that has to be split evenly with all players.. so the more players we have, the less it'll cost you to play! Since we have 12 people, that should be around £3.50 each

Ness: Let Chris know the date and time for the game. There's still two places open so if a couple of Chris' mates wanna play they're welcome.

I'd recommend you get your Astroturf boots and Shin guards out for this game, its a good surface to play on, close to grass in the way it reacts, but if you got to use trainers, try to use ones which have some kind of tread.. else you'll end up sliding all over the place of the pitch is damp! Turf boots are cheap enough to buy these days.. i got a pair of Nike Roma for £20 from Sports Soccer in Eldon Square :)

Bring two tops - 1 light, 1 dark. It'll help when sorting teams instead of seeing all players in toon strips, it could get a bit confusing! :)

If anyone needs directions to get to the place from whatever direction, lemme know and I'll help you where I can. Just make sure you all turn up, I'm going out on a limb here trusting you'll all show :)
However, if you know for a fact you cant make it.. lemme know by the end of the week so i can at least try and get someone to play in your place

Thanks for the response, I'll see ya all there :)

Ok.. seems a few peeps dont know where it is.. so:

    Heaton > Westgate.
Catch the No. 1 bus or other bus into Newcastle, get off at the old Odeon cinema ...

Metro Users and all other Bus Users:
Metro users get off at Monument, or bus users get out as close as possble to Monument and take a walk to the Old Odeon cinema...

... and catch either the 38, 10, 10a or 10b (the bus top just outside of the old Odeon cinema) - these are usually 5-10 minutes frequent. This will take you out of the town, up Barrack Rd, onto Westgate Rd.. past the General Hospital, past the shops on the main street.. the Soccer Centre is just past the Hindu Temple on the right hand side towards the top of the hill.. if in doubt, ask the driver to tell you when you get near Westgate Community College.

If coming in by car from..

    North/South by A1
take the turn off for Hexham for the A69 - at the roundabout, head toward the city centre, which will be Left if you come from the north, and right if you come in from the south.. you are now on Westgate Rd. Follow the road all the way to the top of the hill, as you approach the traffic lights coming toward the Esso garage, Soccer World is on your left-hand side.

    South
Anothe route in from the South is by Redheugh Bridge. Cross the bridge, get to the 2nd set of traffic lights and turn left to head up Westgate Rd... past the General Hospital, past the shops on the main street.. the Soccer Centre is just past the Hindu Temple on the right hand side towards the top of the hill.

If you need further information call the centre on 0191 241 7700 and they should be able to direct you. Failing that and you need public transport information, TravelLine helped me find out the buses needed - 0870 608 2 608

From now now on I'd recommend (as long as its not too late) that you get the pitch for 8.30pm. We used to always play then and because the Westgate centre doesn't shut till ten and there were leagues being played we ended up getting an extra half an hour for free.

Crasherkid: For you that means get the No.1, then get a No.38, or 10, or 10a, or 10b. Simple :)

Well aye it does! :) TV screens around the bar and a large projection screen, sofas and comfy seats, and a pool table :) I think they also have a snack menu.

I was supposed to be dj-ing there and then the lass who ran it stopped my mates from putting the night on hours before I was supposed to play!! Bastards.

Still it was a canny place, if not a bit expensive.

Ive played at Westgate lots of times, in the leagues there, lovely place, excellent bar facilities, pitches are great altho when wet they are a nightmare being outdoors. Astro turf trainers are a MUST!!!

Oh and since its for the lads, last time i was there, lovely barmaid!!! ;)
