Germany asks will Queen say sorry?

Germans are waiting to see how the Queen refers to Britain's 1945 bombing of Dresden when she visits next week, now that they are speaking more of their own war-time suffering and breaking a long-standing taboo.

Just days ahead of the Queen's first visit since 2000, a row has erupted in the British and German press over whether the air raids were justified and whether the monarch should apologise

No she shouldnt appologise, it would be a disgrace to all the people who served during the war. Plus are the Germans forgetting it was them who started the whole thing and did exactly the same to places like London, Birmingham, Coventry

This is a load of bollocks that has been stirred up in the British and German scummy tabloid press.

Bild is the equivalent of the Daily Sport.

And The Star, Sun, et al like nothing better than printing "KRAUT" in big letters.

    It's fucking pathetic. :(

Its a shame that national sentiment is still being stirred by tabloid 'journalism' nearly 60 years after the war ended... which was in part, partly OUR fault that it happened anyways (reperations demanded from germany brought hitler to power in the panic and confusion that the country went through)

The world has moved on... its a pity that theres still a mass of idiots who love to hate someone or something.

Its just this weeks 'issue' that keeps people buying papers. Next week we'll have that poor woman in iraq on the front page no doubt... after being freshly beheaded or something.

Have the germans apologized to and compensated the families who lost members in their needless genocide?

    A. We only dropped the bombs because our country in fact pretty much all of the world was at risk because of Hitler & his Natzi's.

    B. We lost thousands & thousands of Soldiers AND Civilians at the German Armys hands.

& C. The most important fact: THEY STARTED IT!

    Apologise?

No. A German bomber accidentally dropped its bombs on London. We retaliated, so Hitler ordered his bombers to start concentrating on Cities - that's why the RAF wasn't totally destroyed in the Battle Of Britain.

And I think that it's fucking audacious for the Germans to demand an apology - apoplogise for the Nazis first you dicks!

The point is they haven't demanded any apology - it's a load of fucking wank shite in the tabloids, easy for gullible and nationalistic people to swallow.

The majority of germans are peaceful, friendly, and they fucking hate racism/nazi-ism/etc (bit different in the old communist East - that's repression for you). In many respects they are a better nation than ours.

And every german I have talked to about the war (including a former member of the luftwaffe) have apologised for the horror they did cause, they are ashamed of their country's past, but they don't fucking dwell on it (2 world wars and 1 world cup - hilarious  )

While we're on about it -why not get the Queen to apologise to a third of the world for colonialisation and slavery, ooh, and we'd better not forget about apologising for the crusades.
