basically there is ALWAYS a way around the restrictions.

ask yourself tho...is it worth getting kicked off the course for?

as MoS says - any unusual activity on any of the open ports SHOULD be picked up and acted upon. unless u have a daft arse network admin - they do exist :p

dont bother messing too much as there's always someone better than you.

PS. trickle - shut up daft lad!

last year at uni i could get limewire and ares to work thru the network depending in what network port i was plugging my laptop into. had a field day downloading all kinds of stuff.

at the end of the year tho uni cut right down and found a guy who was downloading films, they removed all network privladges to his room and reported him to the companies he was ripping off, harsh as fook!

theyve blocked all filesharing programs this year, so i just get my stuff thru msn now :)

yea i think ive pretty much accepted the fact that im not gonna be able to do my downloading in that way anymore, i wasnt planning to get movies or w/e because that would obviously be pretty dodgy downloading it through the network, just wanted it for livesets/videos from nights etc. Never mind though, i still get a reasonable amount of stuff off messageboards or w/e. Just annoying cause I wanted to download radio shows of crystal clouds and stuff.

face it you lamers you cant run p2p crap on uni networks. in the day it was ftp and it still today is the only way of doing things. it has the flexibility to normally get around and any sort of port blocking and the only thing that would ever be noticed is the sheer traffic going through the box. keep it to eu traffic and its normally fine.
