    Comic Book Movies

If a comic book movie only sticks to the storyline a little bit, ie with character names and powers, do you automatically think its a shit movie?

Ive heard loads of people moaning about x-men saying it wasnt a good movie because it doesnt follow the comic books properly but from what I know none of the movies ever do. Superman is going to be different, batman was loosely based on the comics and so on.

Ive seen alot of good comic book movie makes and enjoyed them knowing they dont follow the original plots first written, are people just wanting perfection these days?

i think that a comic book story being directly translated onto the sceen wouldn't have a mass audience - or thats what the big hollywood studios think - so they change it, add stuff they think will appeal (love interests, happy endings, etc) to bigger audiences. Thats the main problem, film executives thinking about the profit of a film and where a possible film franshise(sp?) might go - it's a big investment. comics cost nothing, so u can be brave with what u put out and continually modify the story

The punisher is a good example. amazing comics, just doesn't work as a film

Yeah I suppose thats it at the end of the day its all about profit and no matter how many people say that a movie is crap and how it wasnt like the comic most will have still paid money to go see it.

I like most of the movies they do, its good to see old comic book heros bouncing about kicking arse on screen even if it isnt true to the original most are still fun to watch. Punisher was a let down I was looking forward to that same with Spiderman 1 I thought that was pretty crap too but X-Men 3 even though it was nothing like the storyline from the cartoons or comics it was quite a shock at times which was entertaining.

Im looking forward to Superman and Spiderman they should be good and they are doing a remake of Miami Vice too
