Saw a few of these comments this morning, fairly surprising tbh considering we are averaging 38,000 at the moment and the last few games have only been in the mid 30's as our last consecutive 3 home matches have been live on Sky which will always mean a few thousand less will pay on the door.

With big games coming up in the second half of the season including the derby, Chelsea, Liverpool, etc as well as the added numbers from the half season tickets on sale then we will reach 40k average for the season, as we do every year.

To see this number increase we need to see an upturn in the economic climate so that the people who can no longer attend through financial constraints have the money to do so; and we need sustained success on the pitch to convince anyone who maybe could afford it to spend £500 a year on a season ticket as opposed to whatever they spend that money on at the moment. Quinny coming out asking for 10k extra fans when we have been in the top 10 for about 3 months isnt really the answer tbh

I have still got and will always have my season ticket as well as attending as many away games as I can, though thats my honest take on our attendances and think the same applies for most premiership clubs as you see a lot of club who have had a lot more success than Sunderland over the last 30 years struggling for numbers at the moment.

Our attendances are piss poor like to be fair, we should never be having less than 40000 there considering we consistently got over 40000 there when Reidy was manager and we were in the championship

To many scruffy cunts watching it in pubs on dodgy cable channels

They arent piss poor like, we still have something like the 6th top average attendance in the premiership?

Bear in mind the shite the fans have had to witness in the last 30 years or so and for us to still average 40k on a yearly basis and sell out 90% of away games is a massive credit to the fans and the area. Same goes for Newcastle really like, one thing you cannot knock from either club is the support.

What I mean we have had better attendances when we were a worse team. The whole leagues attendances are less than they used to be it seems. Sure I read that Man Utd didnt sell all there season tickets this year for the first time in ages

gutted i didn't make it, got a train back from blackpool this morning but due to delays i didn't get to central station until 14:30 and had bags / cases with me. the tossers wanted £5 an item to put it in lost luggage for a few hours. by the time i got home it was nearly 3 and didn't fancy my chances of getting down there before half-time.

i don't think kingston has any idea how he saved half of those shots today

Was a good crowd today like. There was loads of your lot and they made plenty noise. Cracking game aswell, I think we could of played for 3 days and we wouldnt of scored. 26 shots at goal without scoring  . A mix of bad luck and bad finishing. Nevermind.

While I havent a clue how we werent out of sight by half time, fair play to Blackpool today like. Played some really good stuff in the second half, had pace and movement on the break and we couldnt cope with it at times.

Our finishing though... fucking hell.

How off the pace is Bent though mate, hope he finds form again soon. Seems to be struggling now hes not playing the Lone Striker role, we had players tripping over each other going for the same ball a couple of times

Yeah agreed mate, he hasnt been sharp in front of goal since he came back from injury. Thought some of his link up play was better today but finishing wise he hasn't got his touch back yet.

Sure it'll come though, we just need to start finding ways to score goals when Bent / Gyan / Welbeck aren't scoring, as the rest of the side contributes fuck all in the way of goals!
