does anybody know where to get a good mountain bike anybody who likes their pedal bikes ; is Evans a reasonably priced store? is there any cheaper ones on-line or in town? i fancy a specialized/cannondale or something across those lines. can anyone give me any pointers? Ta
you get a tax break if you peddle to work, your employer has to complete the form to prove you peddle, then they pay so much towards the bike. halfords have shit bikes in though
i got me rockhopper from evans - theres a store outside the metro centre but they dont do specialized. Edinburgh cycles do those though. get fitted at byker (hardisty's old shop) then buy from evans. other places to look are http://www.chainreactioncycles.com - good prices - also do Cube bikes http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/ - especially check out their malt 4 bike http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ and http://www.stif.co.uk for price comparisons definitely try the bike out before you buy. pick a budget and stick with it - there are so many different choices its so easy to see something that little bit out of budget and then have to start again choosing at the new price range. i spent a month browsing before i bought the bike i wanted in the first place lol dont be roped in to buying something you dont need. a full suspension is a waste of time if you're not going to jump down massive hills at great speed. if you're wanting to get a bike for fitness and a bit of offroad, a hardtail is more than enough. if it comes to some crunch decisions its better to have better forks. disc brakes can be fitted later so dont worry if it has v breaks. you probably wont need them unless you're already used to them. budget in some decent pedals. the stock ones are always crap. get a helmet and a hi-vis coat if you're planning on going any where near cars. if you buy at evans you get a free service after 3 months. most local bike shops offer this service. its something to think about when buying online. halfords do gt's but their service is rubbish. http://www.bikeradar.com/ has lots of good info (and an active forum) anything else just gimme a shout
spot on that fella there's a lad at work who's quite slued up like and you've got some point that are the same nice one. I know it'll be just front suspension for sure. Just unsure on which brands are actually worth the money as it's a canny amount for a bike. Im thinking of doing the coast to coast Pike so both
nee worry's mate. happy to help. i'm new to some of the things myself, but before i took a break from it i did some racing in my teens and worked as a fitter at a bike shop for a couple of years - so im not a complete n00b loving the weather at the minute, its been mint out on the local trails this last week
Most of what Jase has said is spot on. The shops hes linked are ones ive bought from myself and they are all good and well priced. and dont be fooled into buying a full susser unless you are gonna take advantage of it. Your looking at 800 to 1k minimum for a good full susser. But that money buys a mint hardtail Whats your budget
