    Does anyone like Progressive?

Just wondering what evryone thinks of progressive trance now. A year ago most of promise's, gatecrashers etc lineups were mainly progressive ones. Now it seems that most clubs are going back onto uplifing trance, music what generates energy on the dancefloor.

Godskitchen was the only club not to jump on the progressive bandwagon, prefering to stay with a more uplifting style of music.

Personaly i much prefer uplifting trance to progressive, it always seems to be a better atosmphere etc with uplifting trance.

What does everyone else think of of progressive???

Used to hate the stuff, but recently been gettin into it loads more, like Max Graham stuff, DJ Rusty, Sasha and stuff, i dunno, just think theres a time and a place for everything, and prog has its time and place.

Not a big fan of it in club though, more to chill out to!:p :D

Prog is the best form of dance music in my opinion. Someone compared HH/Hard Trance to pornography, ie it gives you a cheap fix but leaves you ultimatly unsatified and wanting something better.

Prog, while it takes longer to get into can take you to places on the dancefloor that HH/Trance can't. Anyone who's ever witnessed a set from Sasha or Digggers will attest to this.

DJ's like these dont have to play the latest tune from PUSH, Tiesto etc to get the dancefloor going. They have the trust of the crowd who beleive in what they are doing and respond accordingly.

I'm not saying I don't have a good night when I go to GC/Promise, I do. Its just that a great prog set stays with you for life.

i agree with duck like a good prog set does stay with u forever. Even though i still prefer uplifting trance, when i seen sasha at promise i had a really good time i will never forget that set it was amazing!

every night needs prog i think...you get the odd night eg red and black where its banging from the begining, but most nights need a build up to them, which prog provides brilliantly.and its not bad for a whole night on its own every so often!!!:D :D

i think that's one of the reasons why 6hr sets usually dont work, cos there aint as much variety!

i am trance through & through..., but i was dragged to see digweed @ sugarshack a few months ago, and the guy changed my opinion on prog. the set he played was perfect in every aspect i was smiling from ear to ear the whole night! however i;ve seen sasha and he bored the pants of me. prog done properly is wicked. give me a quick fix of hardtrance anyday though over seeing boring sasha.

agree that prog as a warm up is ok but for me i would be happy without it at all...at the GC album launch i was bored senseless with lucian foort after tulip...4 hours of prog was too much....not sayin i dont like tulip or foort but for me is was just way too long.

personally i would rather have funky house as a warm up or sumit...that would make for better vareity in the night instead of prog...well mefinx anyhow

i love prog house/trance, enjoyed some fookin class nights at promise in its 'progressive' stage. But i think to many people get progressive sound mixed up, if its not trance alot of people just asume its progressive...

That digweed set was pretty good i agree. He played Evolution - Walking on Fire TUUUUUUUNE!!

I've yet to see him at bedrock which is supposed to be amazing.
