I was a bit like you before I started using it but I've found it to be very safe. First of all, only ebay will have details of ur credit cards etc (if u decide to give them, there are other ways of paying such as via cheque etc). Secondly, deals done thru ebay are legally binding and in the most extreme cases the police can b brought in. Just check the other persons ratings before u decide to deal with them. I usually don't deal with anyone who has any negative feedback at all. Make sure u know what the postage and packing charges are as well in case they try to charge too much. Look at other similar items to see if the postage is about the same.

As for bidding, I usually wait till the bidding time is almost up before I submit a bid. That way, there's less chance of someone out-bidding you. You have to keep an eye on the item if ur doing this tho because everyone will be thinking the same way and trying to bid at the last minute.

So far all my deals have gone fine tho.

Haven’t had any problems big with ebay and i deal with people from other countries such as the US. Had a few hiccups but nothing that cannot be sorted out. The only thing I would worn ya about is that ebay do take their time when dealing with a problem.

Oh and that reserve thing!!! If you are planning on selling something it is sometimes best especially on an expensive item to set a reserve price as people try to retract bids at the last minute and get the item for really cheap

i found ebay ok...its just when you have an addictive personality like me and u start bidding fortunes for shit u dont even need

ask pike, he pays fortunes for stupid comics ;)

but as far as bidding and not getting it goes...if u pay b credit card your pretty much preotected...well most methods of payment are apart from cash
