Eddie... Still love his style, but halliwell used to be ahead of everyone with all the latest boshage and upfront music, since the turn of the year he's gone all commercial on us,whats ganin on? Last talltrees his set was average and last few weeks his show has been aswell, are radio 1 producers or commerciality killing the music or what?(this also applies to kutski).
Tbh i used to think eddie was shit, and random as he used to play, techno, trance, hardhouse and anything else he could fit into a set, thats being random not forward thinking, the last 3 times i'd seen him he was great, just stuck to playing driving trance like at crasher.
saying that i don't listen to his show, or any radio so can't comment on his live air stuff it's probably like most things, he started out wanting to push his style, realised it wasn't commercial enough and ratings were low, so to counter he plays the same as everyone else.
This is what I think. He couldn't build a set for shit a few years back. He's a fairly decent trance DJ now.
Hes class if he plays trance or hard trance, he likes shit techno though and mixing 3 or 4 different genres into one set usually sounds shit. His tall trees set was fucking quality.
The days of Bosh are long gone unfortunately, but it has been replaced with some unreal Tech thats out there (which Eddie plays). Musics always changing, if your a DJ if you dont move with it you become stuck in a certain genre/time & become boring, people will know exactly what to expect from you & in turn you will die out (sure i've said this somewhere before Lol). In my personal opinion I love his radio station, everything is upfront & up to date. If he went on air every thursday night & knocked the tits out of it for 2 solid hours he'd probably appeal to a fraction of the fan base he currently does. With a radio station as big as R1 & the added fact it's weekly you'll have to set your stall up to appeal to more than those that love him for his harder style as again he'd become boring & dated. For me Eddie got famous very fast & in a very short space of time, some people expect too much from him everytime, he's amazing there no taking it away from the bloke, along with any DJ he's not going to appeal to the masses 100% of the time.
aye not denying the fact he's still different class,i still tune in every week and enjoy the alternate sets, and its an essential fro dj's to adapt styles to keep it fresh, just the fact since his radio show kicked off his trance sets are average, all sets i've heard from him this year have been predictable, they haven't stood out from anyone else on the bill, where as in the past he used to walk all over the other dj's on, mainly his full fire mixes include tunes that have been battered to a pulp,so his trance mixes sound generic..
What ever you think, he's clearly an excellent Dj. Fair enough he does do some dodgy sets, but as far as mixing trance, electro, techno into one set, i would say theres nothing wrong with that. Its how its done that matters. If it progress' well then itll sound fantastic. Plenty of trance tracks have lots of electro elements, and lots of them have techno elements. I do prefer Eddie when he plays techier, his festival sets annoy me, cos thats not what im watching him for.
was that the Promise Vs. GG night @ Foundation? the night b4 the 2nd (i think?) Arena event? aye, top night that
