External Hardrive dead? anyway to recover data?

    External Hardrive dead? anyway to recover data?

    Ok so i accidently knoked me external hardrive off my desk and now when it trys to boot up it makes a little beep noise and then a click it sounds like something sorta drops down/ moves in it.. doesn't show up on my computer - am i right in thinking i could try taking the hardrive out its case and putting in my computer? - is there anywhere that repairs them to?

    Appaently u can run your hd as slave though a pc. and access your files that way.
    But the clicking noise is exactly what mine was doing, had it tested by some guy at dads firm and it was the motor which had failed.
    Unfortunatley its impossible to repair.

    only other option is sent away for data recovery which will knock u back about £400

    Hopfully yours is just something simple, i would love to get mine back, had everything on there :(

    oos sounds a bit lethal that, and it's almost the anniversary of hutchy's HD's death as well :(

    ooh I might know about this. Is it a master drive and you can't boot up? Don't turn it on ever again. Really, never.

    Get an old hard disk to boot windows off, set fucked hard disk as a slave drive and see if some of the files are still there.

    if it's clicking and just sounding dead - the plater motor sounds fucked.

    worth a go but i doubt you'll get anything off it.
