Firewalls (Part 2) I have Soulseek, I can't view my friends files, she can't view mine. She was having the same problem with another of my friends, they both turned off norton anti-virus and Norton anti-Virus Internet Security and that appeared to do the trick.. I can't access her files/she can't access mine, even after I have turned off both of the above programmes. Anybody any ideas, I am on broadband and I have turned off the firewall in LAN connections.. ....?
Try this That will test to make sure the port soulseek is accepting conenctions on is open..... Have a read of this as well
for the average user it does a job - not saying its the best but its decent enuff. none of the windows firewalls are that good...but we wont go there
Typical Tux boy Sygate's free + it's a piece of piss to use yet extremely configurable - Norton is a fucking nightmare when summinck isn't working right...
that much is true yeah - not the easiest to faff on with if u dont like the "default" settings tux all the way tho all u need is killerwall - 2 seconds to config yer firewall - tighther than a fishes arse
How much is norton? (if you get to see this page) Ive been invited to buying Error Guard £29.95 but i dont know if thats ok or not... do you know which is best? My computer keeps going slow on me! I'm gunna have to get it in soon i dont wanna reck my comp. Ive been using what i thought was a built in security system but its obviously shite! and has anyone ever baught anything over the net? Just i've heard you really should'nt put your card details over!!!
Alright, i bought Norton Internet Security for £50 from woolworths, ever since i've had it ive had no problems, NOT a pop up... so far so good! Worth the £ imo
Don't bother buying Norton - it really isn't worth it - download Sygate firewall instead - it's free and much better: http://smb.sygate.com/download/download.php?pid=spf If you haven't got a firewall up and running, and a decent antivirus installed - probs best not to use your card over the net... If you have got an up-to-date virus scanner and firewall (plus SP2 if you're using XP), go right ahead And if your pc's going slow - 1st use Adaware: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE...045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5 Then defragment your drive. If it's still slow you either have too many progs running or you may have a problem.
Hmmm. You could have saved two trips with a keygen... But Norton just isn't worth the cash. Even free ( ) it's not worth it. A good all-round antivirus and firewall is PC-Cillin - easy to use and almost daily sig updates. But for a firewall I'd always go with Sygate Pro, and Webroot for an anti-spyware app.
Nah i needed the excercise and it was a sunny day Tbf if they stop viruses & popups & all the rest of the net nasties then they work - isnt that what you want? Norton
Norton doesn't - that's why I don't like it: I've put worms onto my pc before to test the bastard, one's that don't do too much damage like beagle.k, and it has failed to spot a few of them (beagle.k is about 18 months old too... ). It is pure wank. Also, the firewall is way too much of a bastard for the average standard user to fix any problem with it, eg a file-sharing program won't work or summinck. And either SP2's IE or Firefox block pop-ups. Why pay £50 (or make two trips to Woolies) for absolute shite?
