Idiots guide to stopping viruses Please give me an idiots guide to protect against viruses, trojan horses and all that shite .... I have downloaded AVG but I am not sure if this is enough, do I need a firewall.
McAffe is Norton's bitch As for a firewall, ZoneAlarm is good. Keep your antivirus up to date, it's useless having it otherwise. Beware of dodgy attachments, you could have the most secure pc in the world, but if you run a dodgy .exe or open a dodgy attachment, it's curtains! the biggest threat to computer security is the human element!
1. ALWAYS keep windows uptodate with windowsupdate. 2. ALWAYS keep ur virus definitions uptodate 3. ALWAYS use a firewall For firewall & antivirus i personally think the best there is for windows is Norton Internet Security. As long as u follow those 3 rules u SHOULD be ok....

i'm running McAfee & BlackICE Defender firewall. Never had any bother at all - but on a 56k modem at home most of the 'hackers' (aka spotty virgins living with their mums) can't be arsed to attack me. probably. plus i don't use MSN Messanger, Yahoo similar thing, ICQ, P2P hackers paradise type applications. Easy way to access windows update - in IE, click tools and windows update - OR in XP it's usually on the top of the start menu.
