If you could live abroad for a year..

Where would it be, and why?

I'll probably try and do this when I've finished education but i really don't know where I'd like to be. Either somewhere hot, or somewhere with lots of snow would be ideal :D

I'm not sure how well I'd cope only being able to speak English, even though a lot of foreigners learn English from a very early age. Has anyone done this before?

Possibly South Africa. No idea why, just always thought it would be a nice place to live.

That's a thought. One of my best m8's has moved back there after being here for 6 years and I miss the little bastard  Apparently he has a monster of a house right on the beach. I'm sure i could move in for a while ;)

Great White's in the waters though

Not bothered about anywhere hot, just somewhere with different culture, like Amsterdam or Prague.

Ibiza for obvious reasons, especially if I wouldn't have to do the sort of work most 'reps' do.

Italy as it's my favourite country (after England) - fantastic food, drink, pace of life, fashion, football etc.

Poland as I've always wanted to go.

Either South America to the Amazon for the wildlife, tribes and ancient ruins.

Or the middle east for the blend of cutting edge technology and ancient culture and tradition.

Never understood the fascination with Australia, just imagined it as a poor version of England full of 'Dude' sufer boys and simpletons. Weather would be a bonus though...

If I could be bothered to travel properly it would be to experience something properly different, not some dumbed down version of our own culture. India, Middle East, South America over Australia any day.

It also seemed like the obvious choice. Of course I'd love to do it. But the lifestyle would take it's toll. I mean, a couple of seasons ok! But imagine what it'd do to you living out there. I'm bad enough back here :spangled:

I grew up in oz, sydney. Lived there for 7 years and would love to go back one day.
I also lived on corfu for a year in 2001, if i was going to live in the med somewhere i would go back there. I have some good friends there now and regularly visit for long weekends in the summer.
