Implications for US of recent elections

Can the political types tell me what they will be?

Overall, it seems to be a very positive step to me

Looking forward to various enquiries asking the difficult questions about the so-called war on terror that we have been asking for ages.

Absolutely love it - the senate/representatives (im not 100% on how this works i admit) can now block anything important the president wants to do since its now controlled by the democrats.

Basically GWB is going to have to learn to co-operate a bit more now, although then again he did when he was in charge of texas apparently.

Either way its a good sign that the tide is turning in america, ..... just like it is with the UK.

    Change is good.

doesnt it mean that all financial dealings are out of the hands of Bush and his kronies? (i.e. they must do what the Dems tell them)

When is the Senate result announced?

I think it's a massive step forward for America.

    Great stuff then.

I'm only sorry it didn't happen sooner.

    ha!!! Rumsfeet has resigned.
He must have been responsible for more deaths than Sadaam. A combination of stupidity and agression got him to defence secretary status but I am amazed how long he lasted. I guess GWB made him look intelligent.

the whole American continent north and south seems to be heading towards the left. finally.thank god. Ortega in Nicaragua as well. USA foreign policy is crumbling all over the planet. I just hope the Americans can regain the moral highground they lost in vietnam, iraq, abu graib, guantanamo,iran/contra, sanctioned torture, kyoto and all and maybe just maybe get some even handedness going in the middle east. we might still avoid the 'clash of civilisations'

no. the past year really but the US seemed as if it was going to be republican forever.
anyway for those of us who always opposed the war it's great to hear the people who started it slowly having to admit they fucked up. pity so many people had to die before they realised.

Surely you should always judge a war by how big the tanks were?
