InFocus LP130, any good? Any one who knows anything about vid projectors know if this is suitable for home cinema use? Also how much you would pay (with new lamp)? its... InFocus LP130 1100 ANSI lumens DLP display 400:1 contrast (full on/off) 1024/768 res. Any help really appreciated, I'm thinking about going BIG SCREEN.
replacement lamps cost like £300 - £400 quid!! check the what their estimated life span is, it should give it in hours (like halogen bulbs) we've got loads of projectors in lecture theatres - they always keep getting left on over night and burning out quickly.
The lamp is a 2000 hour. That should last me about 2 - 3 years which isn't that bad. I'm looking to pay about £500 (tops) for a proj of this spec.
I can't afford a plasma screen + i've got a pretty big living room with one huge wall (gonna get a proper screen if I get one). I've borrowed a proj before and it was pretty sweet, you can reduce the screen size (to about 3 foot across ) for watching the news etc or crank it right up for films (10 foot wide!).
After two/three years I think i'll probably just be binning it and buying a new one, the prices are dropping so fast now that the lamps will cost more than a whole new projector. Thing is I don't really watch TV, if I could make my missus use our current box to watch all her soaps then I would get about 6 years use out of it.
