M.O.D.E The Remixes EP M.O.D.E - THE REMIXES EP LEXICON AVENUE - "PURSUIT" LEXICON AVENUE - "ROBOT FRIEND" Famed for their early deep and tribal sound, the new incarnation of Lexicon Avenue singles and reworkings have had a stranglehold over Forensic’s release schedule over the last few years, with releases such as “That Acid Track “ and “Pursuit” forming the perfect template for the labels inimitable hypnotic tech house. As many remixes plough the same field release after release, production outfit M.O.D.E address the challenge amping up two recent singles drawing heavy attention to the heated high-gear house template they command on labels such as Global Underground and Bedrock. Being hassled by the likes of Sasha, Digweed, Prydz, Cattaneo, Lawler, Cox, Garnier, Fanciulli, etc, etc, on a daily basis for their upfront releases is something that M.O.D.E are learning to take in their stride and deliver two mixes that not only utilize their big room druggy production touches but captures the impact of Lexicon Avenue in peak time control of a European club. Full of jittery sonic delight their remix of “Pursuit” manages to use a simple but screaming chorded synth to ride over tight electronic percussion. It’s the tech house swing that pours out of the drums and dominating sub bass that gives that wallop of tension. No holding back here - yes the original synths motion cautiously but its tracks like this that stand out in sets with powerful aggression. M.O.D.E’s reworking of “My Robot Friend” utilizes the more palatable elements of techno and progressive house into a slow burning epic cut of warping synths and modulation tones. The build up and pinged delays pay off resulting in a dirty but functional track that morphs slowly and gradually strengthens as the drones repeat and thicken. Support from: James Zabiela: cool shnizz, thanks! Jz 4/5 Nick Warren: robot friend is great 5/5 Hernan Cattaneo: top stuff both already in my sets 4/5 Anthony Pappa: both tracks are good and I will definitely play these out 5/5 "It's hard to imagine a situation where either of M.O.D.E’s remixes are dropped and don’t add fuel to the fire."
