North Korea fires at South Korea Just saw a bit of of this on the news what's going on? Theyre both blaming each other into firing first, it seems like the international equivalent of two middle school kids having a dead arm contest that got a bit out of hand.
With the Chinese backing the NKs, and everyone else backing SK, this has got the makings of WW3 all over it...

I don't think we've got anything to worry about with regards to china myself. The world is different now, economic superpowers rule supreme.

yeah thats pretty much it like scotty. however blow it up a million times to the point where millions of lives could be at risk in the not so distant future, well, if North Korea go off the handle anyway.
I don't see China as the problem - NK might be more willing to rattle their guns because they think the Chinese are behind them. Regardless of whether you see them as a military power or an economic one, China's definitely up there. Friend or Foe? Who knows...

I think NK might be more the weird kid who turns out to have a massive collection of guns hidden in his bedroom and might come into school and mow everybody down
but 'what if' NK just announces that they are now going to war with SK? does that then mean we will then have our forces drafted straight in? scary thought really, since it could get a bit nasty if china just decide to join in coalition with north korea. tbh, that would then mean we'd have to withdraw massively from afghanistan, then 'OMG' we'd be getting these terrorist attacks we've been promised if we werent occupying afghan territory. however, if it really meant THAT much in terms of national security, they'd surely just stop everyone sporting a beard and turban getting into the country? i'm not obv wanting this, but surely if this 'terrorist risk' was so high they'd do that right?] i hate politics. its a massive fucking sham.

The attack comes just as a U.S. envoy is traveling to the region after revelations that the North is moving ahead with uranium enrichment, a possible second path to manufacture material for atomic weapons.
