Not knowing what do to about uni

Is anyone reaching, or has anyone reached, a point at the end of their first year at uni where they don't really know what to do?

I've found just recently that I don't know whether to leave uni and get a job, start at a new uni, change course at Sunderland, take a year out and go travelling or something, or just stick it out. There's also a chance I may fail this year so I've got no idea what to do. I'm just really bored at the mo and need to decide what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

i dropped out after my second year, only had one year to go.
Personally i believe you have the best times of your life at this age and time, clubbing etc. But you need money to do it.
I say get a job, get a life (no offence i just mean enjoy it), live it to the max then worry about your career when you want to settle down......cos then you wont be bothered about a job as long as you have one really.

you only live once!!! so enjoy yourself as much as you can.....

shit you could die before Promise on friday .. leave now, go down to the uni and quit!!!!!!! before you get chucked off the course anyways. Get a crappy job, spend the pay on going out, having a social life, then knowing that if u die you know you can die happily....

If I stick with it I could end up being really unhappy tho and one of the main points of uni is to enjoy yourself. However, I do think if I leave then I'll have just wasted a year.

its only a year !!!!! what if you feel like this in two years time and drop out then??? you would have wasted 3 years!!! might as well do it now!!

ask yourself one thing, do you really see yourself getting a job at the end of it?????????

cos its a fact that its still hard to get the job you want once you leave!!!!!

oh and another thing............. how much student loan debts you got to pay off already!!!!!

thousands probably....and you have 3 years to go......

think of the money you would actually save in the long run which you dont have to pay back later in life.

just leave now and enjoy your life!!

Fizz - that's what I've been mainly thinking about a lot. The thought of having money and being able to go to Promise every week is very tempting. I'm so confused!Arrrrggghhh!!!

You make so many good points, Fizz. There's no denying that having money and going to Promise every week would be great but I just think I should go to uni. Maybe it's just cos society says 'u have to go to uni to get anywhere'. Even since I put this post up, I've become very tempted by leaving. Thing is, if I do leave, do I stay in Sunderland where it's a bit shit but I'll have friends and Promise and a free house or move back home which is a much much nicer place to live and I'll still have some friends here?

just leave, your always gonna be able to get a job, or even go back later on in life to study as a 'mature' student if need be.
but right now, isnt it the time when you should be having fun and not stressing!!!! cos when yer older you cant have this fun!!

and uni is obviously stifling that fun right now.........

when do you want to have fun, now or when yer old n wrinkly??

personally, i would leave, enjoy my life, worry about your career later - BECAUSE YOU CAN (there are shit laods of option available to the older generation, and if you dont you will always be able to get a job!!!) - come back and study if u have to at a later time in life (which may be a great excuse to get you out of the house once yer married and with kids doing yer head in all the time!! ;) hehe )

I don't really know anyone in Newcastle and I've already put down a deposit on a house for next year. I see your point about it not being a wasted year but a year deciding that uni ain't for me. My parents would understand that.

aaaaah it seems its yer parents that have put the hold on you.

I had to face up to mine when i was gonna leave.....it took some doing, but they can now see im much happier now and enjoying my life. They know i dont regret it at all.

you have to face up to yer parents sometime...and the uni thing is the perfect opportunity...otherwise, WHY ARE YOU STILL THERE REALLY?????? your not enjoying it, your stressed, your bored, your fed up, you may not even get anywhere once its finished, you may not even finish it and knock up lots of debt for nothing!!!

fuck me i know what id do!!!

No, it's not my parents that I'm too worried about. I've told my mum I'm thinking of leaving but I just have to decide myself. You've answered a lot of question tho Fizz, so cheers. I just can't imagine myself working tho, it'd be weird. I've never had a job before!!
