Barack Obama has declared that France is America’s greatest ally, undermining Britain’s Special Relationship with the U.S.
The President risked offending British troops in Afghanistan by saying that French president Nicolas Sarkozy is a ‘stronger friend’ than David Cameron.

Mr Obama said: 'We don’t have a stronger friend and stronger ally than Nicolas Sarkozy, and the French people.'
The comments follow a pattern of coldness towards the UK. When Gordon Brown was prime minister, Mr Obama snubbed his requests for meetings in the U.S.
He also denounced Britain during his inauguration speech.
The UK has lost nearly 350 troops in the war against the Taliban – seven times as many as France.
And there are more than 10,000 British soldiers serving in Helmand province, compared with just 3,850 Frenchmen.

The "Special Relationship" is too much one-way for my liking. It's all to America's gain and not ours.

If they've found some other pansy to lean on, let them get on with it

i had a good think about this while i was having a massive shit earlier and i came to conclusion. Europe and the "E.U" came itto force (m belief) to counteract Americas growning power both econonic and military. With the fall of Russia as a superpower America was out on its own with no one capable to even challenge it, so we joined forces with everyone in europe to form the E.U and even started making plans for a joint euro armed forces. soooo now Europe has been formed for a good few years and seems to be working-ish and holding its own... BUT the U.K has opted out of the Euro and stands slightly on its own from Europe cos of this.... I think Obama is just buddying up with France cos France is the top dog in Europe and it makes sense to make friends with the other "big lad" in the playground.

    There you go

I'd hope this would lead to the government distancing themselves from US politics but I think it will have the opposite effect as Cameron attempts to get his tongue right down Obamas japseye.
