    pandora radio

got an email today from pandora radio to say they have to stop streaming to the UK because the music industry say so.:(
don't know if any of you use this but it's introduced me to loads of music that I would never have listened to or even have heard of, and some of which I bought.
the music 'industry' is eating itself. the sooner the big labels perish the better. bastards.
(in case you never heard it you have till the 15th jan http://www.pandora.com )

ilike, last.fm, and qloud are supposed to be similar, never used them though.

Used to use Pandora quite a bit. Was gutted when I moved to Luxembourg and found it blocked. Started at a company with about 600 staff though, and everyone's itunes is connected across the server so it kind of makes up for it a bit.

thanks for the suggestions. none of them offer what pandora does though. they all seem to work on the 'you liked this so why not try this' model, whereas pandora does it with a set of abstract qualities that the music has and so throws up really off the wall and interesting stuff which is often quite obscure.
    which is nice.
I think it's cos it's run by museos who have a slightly different take on why music grabs you or doesn't

That petition thing on gov.uk must be one of the most pointless creations of the last year or two. Is there any kind of track record showing any changes have been brought about because of it? Does the govt even read it?

All it's done as far as I can see is given a slight hint of legitimacey to spam emails being forwarded round begging people to sign for something or other.

i agree with you. I signed it anyway. the only time they took any notice was that one with a million signatures, can't remember what it was for now. It's pathetic how powerless we all are in the face of big corporations but I always feel it's better to do something than nothing........... and yes I know how useless it is
