The measures brought in to save the country have FAILED. Hardly any progess has been made in 18 months. The govenment needs to find another £111 BILLION POUNDS. W'ere fucked http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...forced-borrow-MORE-Alistair-Darling-have.html
we are. the more cuts they make, the more unemployment goes up, the less tax is paid, the more benefits are paid, the bigger the defecit. we need a good war, thats what ended the 30's depression. Then the government spends regardless of the debt, employment goes up people have more money to spend, tax take rises. That's plan B
Whats your feelings on Immigration during this time, noting that Unemployment is at 3Million at the moment with more youth UE than we have had for 15 years. Also take into account housing demand is too high and food and fuel is going through the roof. Isnt it common sense to slam the door now ?
It was a good budget to be honest - an obvious attempt to get things moving. Alas, how do you bring a corpse back to life? The country was in so much shit a few years ago, its amazing how anyone would be deluded enough to think the generational debt left behind was going to be sorted in 3 years. People don't quite see how bad things are. The public sector hasnt seen anything like the private sector has already had to endure, and all they do is strike and whine about their cushy pensions being affected. Once the chop comes on something that the media and public don't like, it's gonna be the early nineties all over again - the riots earlier in the year, and numerous protests and marches recently showed people are now willing to act like animals because the tories are now in charge. You can't get out of debt unless you - print money (already doing that) - stop spending (people will riot) - raise taxes (ditto) - increase revenues from taxes (everyone is globally fucked so that aint gonna happen) We had a free ride on the city of london and the housing market for so long, people failed to see their country was being gutted under an illusion of wealth. I can't see this hangover ending for 3+ years yet.
