Prince Just bought Rave un2 the Year 2000 - princes' mega perfromance from nye 1999. Feeel the funk! OMG I forgot how amazing he was. Features special guests like lene kravitz and Morris Day and the Time (Jungle Love) 6quid from HMV absolute bargin
for all that he's done for modern music - he still does my head in. alot of people shun others for not liking older artists that lead the path to the modern music that they like. but music taste is about the present, in my opinion anyway why should i pretend to like an artist for the sheers fact that they had a massive influence on future artists - doesent that mean modern music isnt original! fucks sake. like the happy fucking mondays.... i fucking hate the happy mondays. ***Random Rant aside**** Prince was ok - but his "oooo look how camp i am" image really did me nut in
I dont really think you know what your on about tbh. Why do you think he has an "oooooo so camp image" Youve blatantly only heard a few of his tunes and obviously never seen him in a live show ever. I not trying to 'shun' you as you put it but music taste isnt just about the present. Where do you think most of todays hits are influenced from. Absolutley shit loads of vocals are sampled from older artists. the thread wasnt a diss at modern music! and as for the happy mondays. Watch 24hour party people and see how much people like them and joy division changed the modern music scene.
wasnt a dig at you personally bud - it was just a post-waking up pre coffee rant tbh. ive pretty much heard all the songs as well mate - me ma's got pretty much his whole back catalogue, and i pretty much grew up listining to shit like that. thats probably why i'm sour - the soundtrack of a misguided youth's hippy student mother. Prince and probably: REM Crowded House Oasis (i know, i know - but the definately mabey album on loop through all of the mid 90's *shudder*) Simply Red (the staple Ikea background music) The Spin Doctors Alanis morrisette (DIE DIE DIE) so yeah - i do sort of know what i'm going on about - its just me being a sour late teened old man pretty much
And you are a fucking idiot. Your just as bad as the older generations before 'ours' who go on about the state of music today.
well i consider myself told then - and i'm sorry if i offended anyone - i'll keep me gob shut next time ha ha
Does it matter when a piece of music is made? To use an anoolgy, most people lists of favourite movies would include some from the 80's, and 70's, and maybe even 20's and 30's. does this mean they are wrong? Are all your favourite movies from the past five years? I won't bother asking about when your favourite books were written.....
Prince is a musical genius to be fair. Im sure he played pretty much every instrument on his 'musicology' album. He is an amazing guitarist and he did write 'nothing compares 2 U' If you like Purple Rain he did a song called 'Sometimes it snows in April' Which is just simply Majestic
