Peoples views? I would expect the majority to be opposed.

Although I have never been addicted to smoking cigarettes, nor do I ever have to go through a pregnancy myself, I think it is weak that sacrifices can not be made to give a child the best start in life.

All I can take from this mother, is that she has tried to convince herself that it is better for the child, because she is too selfish to give up.

I would also heavily assume that the child was born with an addiction, and therefore cries more and is more restless, and would carry a weaker cardio-vascular system.

Its more likely that the baby will be mentally retarded and the mother (who is obviously also mentally retarded) will die from cancer
