    The Club

Why is it that this massive night which has been running for 2 years not managed to keep the club busy every weekend? After visiting the club on many occasions i have had 1 enjoyable night. No disrespect but each time i have been there have been very bored by Mr. Tulip. I know progressive is the fashionable thing at the moment but I have been more entertained by an elastic band. With the local talent which is on your doorstep why not utilise the factors at hand. Listen to what is good and not what is fashionable. Want to be fashionable? Shop in Strand and don't let it interfere with the music. Ta much:D

Who said it was massive?? Have u thought about the "culture" of Newcastle... its beer and football, topped with music of the commercial variety often found in the Bigg Market.

Newcastle hasnt got a huge trance/hard dance following...go figure!!

And why do you think this is. Some of the best club's can be found in the strangest places, but still have huge following, go figure.

Yeah but most of these are found in big cities right? Where liceneces are granted till 6/7am the next day. Look at Newcastle, the leisure industry is monopolised by Ultimate Leisure who are simply out to make a buck by providing commercial clubs, but which attract the majority of locals.

Due to the council, licences for clubs/pubs on the whole end at 3am, maybes 4. "Real clubbers" want to beable to carry on right throught the night... not really gonna happen here... Also there is virtually no sunday clubbing, which is found in many of the larger cities in the country. To have gotten Promise to what it is, to me deserves a lot of credit, theyve made the best of a not ideal situation... At the end of the day, politics and authorities are goin to have a big influence on where people go clubbing.

I do see your point, but the point is big cash = big DJ's
it is hard to get them to come up north but they will go anywhere if the price is right, christ I sound like Brucey. YOu will go clubbing more than I but I still can tell what is good and what is shite. Went to cottage 2 weeks ago and heard 3 styles of mixing.
    1. Cheesy trance i.e a wank version of bryan adams heaven!!!!!
    2. Solid hard trance by a man called Lee Foster i think. i.e Trance, Acid
    3. Some hard house with no feeling
    You make the choice?????????????

LMAO, that would have been the three of our regulars playing!! but you need big djs to get big(ish) crowds, therefore so the night can make profit... u get local talent, not so many people would go, therefore not as much profit (if any). I know there is some fantastic local talent, but at the end of the day, promise is a business...businesses need to make profit to survive/expand.

tulip hardly plays that much progressive anymore anyway...here we go again some people think that if it isnt trance its progressive. Tulip play loads of tech house and tech trance, compared to a year ago when progressive was the theme, plus he's only playing the warm up set.
And as them doing the fashoinable thing, well that was a long time ago now.... they havent booked proper progressive DJ's for a whole night for over 8 months... your post is about 8 months too late

and as for local talent, well tulip is one of the biggest local talents there is!! the reason u dont like him is cos his style is not to your liking maybe if he played later sets u would enjoy him better... like Mr Dog said, u cant afford to have local talent on doing main sets... people wont come to see them.
