    Traktor

So who has this/has used it?

Whats it like? good/bad points? Ease of use?

I no longer own decks and have decided to get in amongst all the DJ software kicking about.

I have Ableton 5.01 which is good but i hear Traktor is purely for mixing sets which is what i'm after for now.

    Cheers

You'll have to download and try mate, some people love it, some hate it - works best if you have 2 outputs on soundcard though, then you can use headphones

I've mixed the odd song which is fine.

But i find it hard to ajust all the little nobs using the mouse
If I was gunna create a mix, I reckon I'd have to rehearse it all first before i hit record.

Set the "little nobs" to run off keys on your keyboard.. its music more efficient.

I've never really dabbled with the auto cue feature though.

Whenever I record a mix on it I note down times and pitch, I find it easier that way.

Also.. I think you can save mix progression and finish mixes later and then export them.. I think.. but I haven't really looked into that feature yet...

Ref the auto que i find it easy to just drop the tune in then press synch - job done :D

Ref using the keyboard instead of the knobs - how do you do that?????? That'd make lif easier again

If you use auto sync too much you will find that at some points it will actually push the track out of sync..

It is far easier to set a master bpm and then reference the tracks to that (by pressing the master button.). Then you can use the bend pitch (or pitch up/down) to keep the beats together.

If you look in the options there should be a section wher eyou can "learn" hot keys to different functions.

To do this.. you select your deck (a or b) and then select the function you require.. for example pitch up. and then press the learn button followed by the key u wish to use for this function.
    So it'd go like this..

    Options -> Hotkeys -> Deck A/B -> Pitch up -> Learn -> q

Then when you pressed q when playing a track it would nudge the track forward slightly to help keep the track in line with the track your mixing it with..
