US Marine executes wounded Iraqi Fighter

US Marine executes wounded Iraqi Fighter in front of NBC cameras.

Just seen something shocking (or is it?) on the news.... A NBC camera team was following some US Marines..... the marines went into a house where loads of wounded Iraqi Fighters had been dumped by a Marine Squad the day before (leaving wounded to die like this is bad enough!!). The Marines entered the building and thought the Iraqis all dead..... then one shows signs of breathing and a Marine raises his rifle and shoots him in the head (this was not shown as too graphic but sound was heard). The Iraqi had not moved only breathed!

YOUR NOT IN THE NAM NOW YOU MURDERING BASTARDS!!!!!

Humorous PC terms for the war....

THE IRAQ WAR is now only know as "The Situation in Iraq"

IRAQI FREEDOM FIGHTERS are now only know as "Insurgents"

Wow by hearing these tame terms day in day out, I have almost forgotten about the Illegal Invasion..... :spangled:

These things have always happened in war, its just the fact that news coverage and communication has progressed so far, coupled with the public's (especially american) hunger for reality tv, that these things are being seen. Its a war FFS and these iraqis are shootin at the americans. The yanks need to get in and secure the city asap, are they really gonna worry bout some blokes who were tryin to kill them or are they gonna kill the blokes so its one less to worry bout.

War is not pretty boys and girls.

Doesnt excuse executions but I see ya point... I bet the trigger happy yanks are well shaky at the thought of being captured and beheaded that some will have itchy fingers... should be punished tho.

This isnt anything new its just this isnt a popular war and we see a lot more nowadays

Wonder what people would say in ww2 if it was a german soldier... bet there wouldnt be much oposition, diff situation I know but come on this is war and people are gonna die in the most horrible circumstances, regardless of public opinion.

What the fuck do people reckon happen in war time situations??? do people really accept that soldiers can go into comprimising situations and not shoot people if they think there own lives are at risk, i dont agree with the war and the way that bloke was shot but you's have to have some sort of compasion with what our soldiers and US soldiers have got to face day in day out, if i had to live almost everyday with the chance of getting shot or blown up i think i'd have the same mind set that most of the soldiers out there have.

I'm on a right pissed rant tonight, thats me off to bed befo ei have to ring huey on the big whit telephone.

the coverage of this will be blown so out of proportion. it's war, people die, unfortunate things happen - but there will be NON STOP wall to wall coverage on every channel from now and until christmas of this brutality.

yet, i'm sure the SAS did much worse everyday not on camera - and they're our heros!

I'm afraid that I agree with some comments here: war is war, and these things happen.......granted, many soldiers in the US army are basically white trash, or from poor ethnic backgrounds. Add this to the fact that the USA is an isolationist country, where only about 25% of the population actually have passports, and millions of people have no real idea of the outside world - add to this a lifetime of Hollywood films, and morals and ideals shoved down their throats and you have a recipie for disaster.

The trouble with the US armed forces, and the Marines in particular is that they are extremely gung ho - they are trained to kill people and destroy things, and it's unfortunate that they don't have the same high standard of training as their British counterparts....on the one hand, that 'insurgent' could have been holding the trigger to a mine or a bomb, so that Marine shot him as a precaution - can you imagine the Hell that those troops are going through? The worst street fighting since Hue City in '68. On the other hand though, he seemed to be badly wounded and incapacitated. What makes this difficult is that the soldier was filmed doing what he did....since Vietnam, warfare has become televised and the media has given us more or less full coverage of the Iraq situation - if the Yanks aren't careful, their actions will lose them this war by damaging the muslim world's opinion of the west even further.

and I've just heard now that the NBC reporter who filmed the scenes saw a Marine killed the day before when he went to search a booby-trapped body of an insurgent.

proves what I said - war is war, and these things happen - if I was in the same situation, I can't say how I would have acted....it's all very well for us, safe in our little coccoons but in the harsh reality of war a split second decision can mean the difference between life and death....the marine shot the guy because he thought he was faking being dead - it's unpleasant to hear about things like this but hey, welcome to reality.

Here's a different point of view from Sky News :

    http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-13249411,00.html

    Highlights are :

The marine, who has since been taken off battlefield duty, is seen standing above a figure slumped against a wall aiming his rifle at the man's body.

"He's f***** faking he's dead," the soldier is heard to shout. "He's breathing... he's f****** faking he's dead."

A shot rings out, and the words: "He is now" can be heard on the video.

US broadcaster NBC said the dead man, one of about five pictured inside the mosque, was an unarmed insurgent who had been discovered the previous day and been left to await medical attention.

The reports said the unnamed marine involved had been wounded in the face the day before the killing but had returned to duty almost immediately.

It's not bad enough that people who are trying to defend their own city are being labelled 'insurgents' and 'terrorists', that there is no independent media in Fallujah to report on how many civilians are dead/dying, and that the US is blocking aid from reaching the city. Poor americans, they must be going stir crazy with the toils of war... Go get those terrorist ragheads boys!!!

    :(

I dont agree with war but ....

WAR IS WAR AND PEOPLE DIE - FACT

Plus ... The media are going to be on top of anything that happens ... no matter how big or small .. if they think they can get a good story (more cash ££££) they will go ahead and do it. Its got nothing to do with keeping us informed of whats happening. Its all about viewers, selling more papers, ... basically ££££££££ .
