    xmas in november?

been listeninig to radio 1 this week(the colin and edith show) and it seems to me that they've got the right idea, there trying to get all there listeners to sign a petition to ban people advertising xmas before december 1st which seems to me to be spot on!

now dont get me wrong, i love xmas as much as next person but there starting to advertise earlier and earlier. seen somebodys decorations up on the 1st of november, you might all be thinking shut up eberneezer, but in my own personal opinion i dont want to see xmas adverts on the telly and shops full of xmas trees and decorations or xmas albums on the radio in the first week of november. wot do you think?

    yes:up:

Christmas pisses me off. Its a commercial piss-take. If I was a religious god botherer I would find it all slightly hypocritical and missing the point! It should be banned before dec 1st, its not as if we're all gonna forget!

    Bah fucking humbug

    (still like prezzies tho! :p)

Uuugh I hate the run up to Christmas.

It was good when you were a bairn and just had to get more and more excited.

Now it's all about avoiding the crowds to buy presents for people just for the sake of it. It's rare these days that I see something and think "wow, <whoever> would really like that"..

I hate seeing shops have their decorations up dead early etc. :(

Christmas is capitalism and consumerism at it's best. Let's buy those pressies, send those cards, stock up the shelves with expensive xmas food, put up those decorations, watch the delightful xmas adverts during the Bond film, fill up the car with lots of petrol to visit Aunty Flo, go out to the xmas parties, and don't forget to get your dog a xmas pressie too! Then spend January wondering where the last of your disposable income went...

For all my cynicism, I do love the pretty lights everywhere...

aaargh! Commercialism at its worst.....if I have to listen to the shit coming from Fenwick's window one more time I swear I'll put a bin through the window!

and then there's the hordes of shoppers just milling about with no purpose, so you get a headache even before you leave your house...

And Dec 25th isn't JC's birthday - that's the date of the old Pagan festival of Sol Invictus, a celebration of the return of shorter nights in preparation for spring time. (LOL read the Da Vinci Code for more useful nuggets of info)

Fookin' religious shite! Good for getting pissed and eating lots whilst watching telly - bad for relatives you don't really want to see.

haha, im a bit of a whinger nowadays, must be the yorkshire in me :p

Got loads of nephews and neices so I can still see the fun they have, which is cool (and expensive), but the defining chrimbo memory I have is never getting the teenage mutant turtles blimp... destroyed my childhood

However I will enjoy unwrapping the many pairs of socks I will inevitably receive... and terry's choc oranges :D
