4 gig ram

    is there any need for 4 gig tho? i found out i was runing fine on 512 a couple of month's ago, upgraded to 2 gig and that seems fantastic to me.

    however....you always feel the need more, regardless of how your pc runs :D

    anyways, what dya use your PC for anyway? because if its for photo/video's and stuff you mayaswell keep the better Gfx/vid card in there.

    my gfx card is fine its the tv card that isnt compatible. i use it for allsorts
    vid encoding, games allsorts

    then yeah get the smaller one. cos the games that will be coming out in the near future are going to fuck most people off in regards to how powerful your machine actually needs to be to actually run them.

    4gee's of ram would be handy :up:

    I didn't have this problem when I tried running 4gig with a 32bit OS, it just didn't see more than about 3gig.

    Might be worth checking that it's not a hardware problem, could try running memtest and checking if your motherboard supports the quantity and type of RAM you have put in.

    ive got an evga 680i board, shit hot aswell can handle a shed laod of ram and ive got the same ram already installed, same speed same make same everything.ive heard of others having similar issues.

    all this OS talk made me wonder if i still get access to free microsoft software via the uni MSDN academy...

    i only bloody do :D

    Just downloaded XP 64bit...there is also Vista Business available but duno if it's 64 bit

    I'm sure I read somewhere that the only non-64 bit version of Vista was home basic?

    nah u can get all flavours in both 32 and 64, i should still have access to microsoft academy aswell :D

    You seem to know what you are on about but just incase have you checked your memory timings and voltage?

    i had altered the timings before but reset them after completely ballsing it up :lol: cheers tho, atleast you know the score
