Re: Re: A Message From Orbit

thats pretty much nail on the head imo, i think it has a lot to do with 1st impressions. if a newbie doesn't read this board before posting and doesn't know how it works, like how some people can be quite frosty or turn ya words around, then they could be put off after receiving a reply they didn't expect.
also, i dont know if a new member would immediately realise that there are a lot of friendships on here and the majority of regular posters know each other. just my :chill: thoughts anyway :D

I dunno why people are

Surely were all fucking adults on here (bar some) eh ?!?!

If people get picked on for fuck all then its a bit shit, at the same time its a message board and before they joined they have probs seen this

If they give flack and cant take it n i suggest they fuck right off and learn to take the banter....

Have peoples mams n dads been on the case again ?!?!

    Soft twats..

i think sometimes we all need a bit of tollerance... we make up this community but we don't own it.

i for one, will be reviewing my ways.

If people start talking shite then they deserve to be hammered

If they are getting shit for no reason then thats a bit out of order... but piss-taking is a very important social skill and if ya cant take it your gonna be in trouble :D

I havent read all this thread other than the first few posts but.... racist bellends aside (like Harper)... this board is completely off putting to anyone other than a hardcore minority.

Any thread which is about board members and what they do outside the board, infighting, threads posted by iany-e etc will do nothing but turn away casual visitors to the club from posting and contributing on here, and may even be turning people away full stop.

As harsh as it sounds, the only way to get fresh minds and voices on the board is to refrain (either personally or by mods getting the pruning shears out) from using the board to have 'closed' conversations that are only intended and welcome for comment by a select few people who all knock about with one another.

When i say that, it is in no way a criticism or negative comment about anyone who does it (and yes, i do it aswell at times) but if you want to run a successful website and messageboard, encouraging as many people as possible to contribute is essential, and its a fact that you can DISCOURAGE people from posting by having even a few 'only for a few' threads on the main board, it makes it look like a closed community.

In a way, the best forum on here is the music forum since its nearly always full of threads that anyone can come on and comment about regardless of their background or post count - the main board has gotten a bit better in recent times since iany-e was ousted but theres improvements we could all make.

    My take anyhow.
