Remind me not to meet you off the tube if we gan oot when me and paul move to london

Its a lot more than social responsibility, industry is getting royally fucked over and at the end of the day economics is all that matters.. you make it sound like your conscience... its real and within 5 years you'll probably be the only one on this board able to afford to drive

    my routes are usually

    london - york
    london - leeds
    york - leeds
    york - manchester
    york - newcastle

in the last month virgin have cancelled two trains on me from york - newcastle, leaving me over an hour late on both times.

also it is not always possible for me to book 3 days in advance. though obviously if i can, i do. i spend probably a full working day on trains each week, i have become very bitter towards them.

i choose train travel as i can work whilst on the move, i could probably travel cheaper in a car, but hey i'd be at work for another 12 hours a week and that is certainly something i don't need.

i'm completely at the mercy of the train companies.

Turning boro into a casino town aint what i would call regeneration.

The north south divide needs correcting, and that means alot more than keeping REAL businesses and enterprise in the south, but exploiting the north as a place to get drunk, gamble or open and shut call centres.

I'd hate to think the place i grew up in was headed in that direction.

from what ive heard its not a casino that will attract the down and outs of the area, its more a night time entertainment venue to attract people from far and wide... still i dont know enough about it to really pass comment but its had a lot of support from certain areas... hopefully if it goes ahead it will be a boost to an area that really needs it.

Actually i never thought of the fact that more people sharing means less cars on the road thus less traffic (in theroy)

Perhaps smog was right after all :p

but i still think its silly

One of the problems is that unless you actually give up your car altogether, or you cover large distances on a regular basis, the saving in fuel alone is hardly anything to get excited about. If the other costs were more accurately related to the number of miles you covered then perhaps more people would think about car sharing. Paying out the best part of around £750 p.a. running costs

Now i'll have none of that!!!!

    Allow me to explain myself...

While the THEROY is that less cars may equal less traffic, those who are solo are crammed into less space...so it could make it worse!!

bear in mind this is a motorway car pool lane, 10 journeys a week and say an average of 10 miles, thats £100 miles a week if the roads are clear, not to mention parking costs etc.

I don't know how much fuel costs at the minute but I'd have imagined thats quite a substantial saving?
