Depression is a serious illness that can destroy lives counselling is the way forward IMO Cognative Analytical Therapy and Cognative Behavioural Therapy are excellent tried and tested means of treament. rather than just fobbing (sp) most people off with a medicinal answer.
Interestingly, i know someone who has convinced himself that he has anxiety problems...... most of which are based on some bullying at high school he had 5+ years ago. He's been placed on some waiting list for CBT with the NHS which i think has been 18+ months in total. In the meantime he's decided to largely shut himself in doors waiting for the state to 'fix him' - its a sorry state of affairs to be honest..... almost like people are willing to put large chunks of their life on hold before their treatment starts. Im a bit sceptical of it all to be honest.
