Get an internal flight to Iquitos while you're there - dead easy. Haven't been myself, but ppl I was in Peru did, it's well set up for boat trips up the amazon, parrot watching, jungle walks etc

dodging the worlds deadliest animals, insects and reptiles....sounds like tremendous fun

I ventured into the jungle in belize for about 40 minutes.

I've never been so hot and sweaty in my life, and I got well over 50 mosquito bites that itched so much after that I couldn't sleep for a week

Decided to abandon the expedition and go for a diet coke instead.

Southern France around the Rhone valley.. it's like a time warp, close to the Alps, Sea and stunning landscape, not to mention fantastic food and culture..

I think people overlook Europe far too much for places like New York (zzzz) and Australia.. there's a shit load more interesting stuff to see and do on our doorstep..
