 dunno what virgin train youve been travelling on!

all trains run late.. ive never had a problem with staff.. all their trains are sparkley new.. and most of all, when you jump them... the toilets are big and clean and conviniently, dont stink like a cess pit :D

Not too long ago, I was doing Newcastle to Birmingham every other week. Hated it.

I go away a lot with work, predominatly London, & never have a problem with GNER. Staff are so much friendlier and whilst the aren't as shiney & new, they're a lot more comfortable! Virgin are too plasticy, not good for long journeys! Had plenty run-ins with Virgin jobsworths, especially when the trains are overbooked, they don't honour reservations & make you sit on the floor/stand for 4 hours when some other nobber is in your seat... even though there were several free seats in first which they have the cheek to ask you to pay extra for...! All too common occurrance.

I'm stuck on bloody Virgin trains tonight for 5hrs+ going to Bristol, better not be delayed! Got Champ Manager (and some work to do - allegedly!) to keep me company though! :king:

Jobsworth - Sorry, this is first class, you can't sit in here with this ticket

Scotty - Mate, there's someone sitting in my seat

Jobsworth - Train's full, we've cancelled the earlier one so we're not honouring reservations. This is the last train too (time was about 17:00) due to engineering works, we've condensed the timetable

Scotty - There's no seats anywhere in standard & no where to stand/sit in carriages or vestibules. Where do you expect me to go?

Jobsworth - Not my problem, you can't sit here unless you pay for an upgrade. Find somewhere to stand

Scotty - Stand from Birmingham to Newcastle?

Jobsworth - Yes, as I said, it's not my problem

Scotty - Why should I have to pay extra for a seat when you're not honouring my prior reservation?

Jobsworth - Look, if you don't stop arguing I'll have you off the train. There's space on the floor over there (points to a space on the floor in first class), I'll let you sit there instead of going through to standard class...

To add insult to injury, the bloody thing broke down in Durham, brakes seized & doors locked, took 2hrs to fix! Didn't get into Newcastle until 11pm!

Typical attitude of Virgin train staff I experienced almost every other weekend for 8 months or so.

will have a check... need to know dates, times, any railcards you have and whether you want 1st or standard class.

Probs be between £25 and £70 tho, depending on ticket type and availability

DO NOT jump the train to Birmingham as your ticket has to be checked at a turnstyle before you can leave the station!!!!!!!, just like in Leeds
