I bet people who's parents were divorced and stuff used to get abuse a few years back tho, and thats normal now. The times are changing all the time it just takes people a while to get used to it

Fortunately things are changing. If the child is self-assured enough and is brought up to deal with it, it will be fine (mostly).

Also, if they stay in the same area and go to school with a lot of the same kids from the start, then those kids will have grown up knowing about it and not see it as something odd.

not a catholic school though eh:wink:

I think the pope is gay...........
Father Georg Gaensweinis the Pope's 50-year-old private secretary. His good looks have been causing something of a stir in Rome: Italian Vanity Fair has described him as "the poster boy of Catholic Conservatism."

I never once got abuse for my parents being divorced.

Even if they kids had mates who were ok with it all then I'm sure the rest of the school would still take the piss.

It's a tricky subject but I don't think religion can be used as an excuse for discrimination in the modern developed world.

It would put religion above the law.

Really and truly I have no idea what qualifies the theologist to answer moral questions over anyone else. I suspect it's lingering tradition. This isn't even a particularly moral question, it's common sense as far as I can tell.

I mean, if I start my own religion tomorrow, am I allowed to discriminate against whoever I feel like?

As a practising catholic I believe this is one area where the church needs to update it's thinking (just like the fight against aids/contraception issue).

I don't consider homosexuality a sin... suppose I'm one of a moderate few that hold that view though.

tbf, I agree that gays should be allowed to adopt, but i also think that the church can't really change its opinions on things can it? afterall they follow the words of god which were layed down before time was time, if they now decide that gods words aren't right and change them, they are defying eveything they stand for and would be in essence hypocrits.

It must be a massive dilemma for the church i would imagine, i don't think its as straight forward as them just being predjudice.

 I agree, I'm Catholic, went to Catholic school and occasionally go to church (hardly a hugely practising Catholic but go around once a month) but I've always known I wasn't straight.

Like Alex says though it's going to be hard to change the stance of the Church on issues that have been around for years without uproar from certain quarters and, let's face it, it's the last thing the church needs at the moment

3000 years ago to be precise, some 7000 years after the domestication of the dog and 3 billion years before the start of the earth.

im not against homosexuality, but i think its unfair that homs can think that they can bring up a child.

imagine the greif you would get at school if your parents were benders. fuck that.

No, not at all - I was just questioning the 'time before time' thing ;)

I was hoping there would be at least someone to disagree with this debate :(

Imagine the abuse the child would get if they were ginger
Imagine the abuse if they were a little poor and couldn't afford the fashionable new trainers
Imagine the abuse if they were from a different area.....
