i care about the ecconomy and i have issues with some of the spending, but im not gonna sit down with my mates and have lengthy discussions about it. its fucking boring, whenever the budget comes around we get money taken from us, its a depressing subject and one which people dont need to dwell on when they can talk about much more interesting subjects which amuse them. im happy for you that you and your social elite mates talk about the budget, but why tell someo they have shit mates if they dont find the same topic interesting. pure head up own arse comment
I never sit down and talk with my socially elite mates about it - I talk about it on messageboards. Just because a subject isnt the kind of thing you would unwind over a few beers with, doesnt mean its off limits on a messageboard.....
i never said its off limits, i said it is a boring conversation which would not interest many people in daily conversation with their friends. my gripe is you ripping his mates because they dont dwell on the budget
It's not something I would generally discuss at a party, but it is something I would talk about with friends in the right circumstances. I think priorities change as you get older.
Its not a boring conversation. Dont mis attribute what YOU personally find interesting versus what other people do. Yeah - Im RIPPING his mates. What next i wonder.... Accusing me of calling his pint a puff? or looking at him in a funny way?
right lets see how many different people posted in this thread. the only part of the budget most people even batter an eyelid at are the parts about smoking, petrol and drink. plus just because you dwell on the subject DOESNT mean every one else does. can you not see how stuck up you sound when you say he should have better mates because they dont like to talk about the budget.
Im sure little Steve can stick up for himself. Who are you anyways - his bodyguard?! I made an off the cuff response to an off the cuff comment. Different board members post and hang around on different kinds of threads - thats the variety and spice of life that makes things interesting. Theres some very intelligent people on here who like to talk about a variety of things (or read other peoples views on them) ASWELL as talking about clubbing. Sorry, but if someone posts something which amounts to 'im not interested in this as a topic, i dunno why everyone else is" type statement... then perhaps either me or someone else is going to pick up on it.
what he said was he only seems to hear smokers moan about it, then you made yourself look like a prat by suggesting he finds better company. stuck up...move on
It comes down to intelligence, thick people don't talk or think about politics because they don't understand the complexities enough to hold an argument or an opinion on either side, they also lack the initiative to relate what happens on the street to decisions made higher up and willfully dismiss it as boring to disguise this insecurity... Some may not talk about it because it is boring and not exactly the most sparkling on conversation starters, but they will still have an opinion..
It is fucking boring though, to me anyway. I'll admit i know absolutley nothing about politics, for the simple reason it bores me, so i can't be arsed to learn about something that doesn't interest me.
Just watched Camerons response to the budget on the bbc site. All i can say is he really quite reminds me of Tony Blair in the commons BEFORE he was in charge of this country. Not sure about Cameron (Alot of people have called him Nu-Labour in tory clothing) but i get a strange feeling that labour might not last another term (or two at best) with an opposition like this. Labour under Gordon Brown aint quite as sexy as it is/was under Blair.
